How do I get a cheap pay as you go deal?

The easiest way to find a deal that suits your budget is to compare networks and packages. The best deal isn’t always the cheapest option. It's important to consider value for money when comparing packages, like data allowance, minutes and any extras including EU roaming charges.

You can filter your search results by:

  • Monthly cost of the deal
  • Amount of data, texts and minutes you want
  • Contract length, ranging from 1 to 12 months
  • Network provider

Most of the big network providers require a minimum of 1 month contract. That’s why you’ll see deals from providers like LEBARA, giffgaff and SMARTY for no contract deals. Being flexible on the network you choose opens up your options but make sure to check the coverage for your area before you decide on a deal.

How much monthly data will I need?

This all depends on how you'll be using your phone. The more you use it to stream TV or music, the more data you'll need.

You can use our mobile data calculator to help give you an idea of how far your data package will get you when browsing the internet, streaming music or playing games.

*Switching from an ending 24 month handset contract to a SIM only contract (and keeping your existing handset) could save you £352 (£352.90) per year, or £29 per month. This calculation is based on the price of the top selling 24 month handset package in July 2022 (Apple iPhone 13 with 50GB data) against the cheapest equivalent SIM only deal on the Uswitch site as of July 2024 (TalkMobile 50GB data £8 per month).
