How can I save on my Fiat car insurance?

Don't overestimate your mileage

The more miles you drive, the more you might pay. So try to be as accurate as possible.

Remove optional extras

To keep costs down, check your policy to see if you're paying for optional add-ons that you don't need.

Pay for your insurance annually

If you can pay for your insurance in one go, rather than paying in monthly installments, you could get a better price.

Shop around

To find the best value car insurance, it's worth shopping around and comparing quotes.

What insurance group is my Fiat in?

All cars fall into 1 of 50 insurance groups. Typically the higher the group, the more expensive your car insurance will be. What group your car sits in depends on things like it's value, cost to repair and performance.

Here are the insurance groups for popular models:

  • Fiat 500 hatchback (2008 - 2024): 3 - 15
  • Fiat Panda (2012 - 2024): 3-12
  • Fiat Punto (2012 - 2021): 6 - 19

Insurance groups vary for each model depending on the age of the car and its spec.

What car insurance can I get for my Fiat?

There are three levels of car insurance to choose from:

  • Third-party: This is the legal minimum cover you need by law. It covers damage to other people, their cars, and property. But it won’t cover damage to your own car.
  • Third-party, fire and theft: This covers everything third party does, plus protection if your Fiat is stolen or damaged by fire.
  • Fully comprehensive car insurance: This is the highest level of cover. It includes everything above and covers damage to your own car.

What additional cover can I get for my Fiat?

Looking to enhance your cover? You can add these optional extras to your policy:

Courtesy car cover

By adding courtesy car cover, your insurer will provide you with a temporary car if your Fiat needs to be repaired or off the road.

Personal accident cover

If you find yourself involved in a car accident that causes serious injury or death, personal accident cover could help protect you from any costs that come as a result of the accident. If certain injuries, disabilities or death occur, a fixed payout could be arranged through your policy.

Windscreen cover

If your car windscreen suffers a chip or crack, windscreen cover can help replace or repair your windscreen, side windows and rear windows.

Breakdown cover

There's nothing worse than being stuck at the side of the road with no roadside assistance to help. Adding breakdown cover to your policy will help get you back on the road. The level of cover can vary depending on your policy, so be sure to check this when adding it to your policy.

Motor legal cover

You may find yourself being involved in an accident that isn't your fault. Legal cover helps protect you from any costs that come from the legal process after an accident.

If you drive an electric Fiat, your electric car insurance policy should include the following:

Cable cover

This covers damage or theft of your charging cables.

Public liability cover

Liability cover provides protection if you accidentally cause damage or injury while using public EV charging stations.
