Security Policy
Site security
Confused.com takes security seriously as do our insurance/financial service partners, who all operate their own security policies. We use industry-standard secure sockets layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption technology to ensure that all your personal and transactional information is encrypted before transmission. As a further commitment to security, our site was submitted for approval by Thawte, the acknowledged experts in web security. Thawte authenticated Confused.com as being secure and awarded us a universally recognised digital ID certificate. After signing into Confused.com, the closed padlock icon at the bottom right of your browser shows that you are in a secure area of our site. Our robust security policies are to safeguard your privacy from unauthorised access/improper use and we will be continue to implement ever-more secure technology as it becomes available.
Security of third party sites
We cannot be responsible for the privacy policies and practices of other websites (.e.g. some partners may transfer data outside the EEA to overseas call centres). If you access partner sites using links from our website, we recommend that you check their security policy when you visit. Wherever possible we've partnered with sites that show the same commitment to security and also offer SSL encryption throughout their quotation process.
We use a secure server
When you ask for a quote from us, we will process the data on a secure server. Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator will confirm that you are in a secure area by displaying an unbroken key or a lock in the bottom right corner of your browser window. Some organisations have a security feature called a firewall to protect their computer systems. These firewalls may prevent you from connecting to our secure server to get a quote. If you are at work and cannot connect to our site, please consult with your IT administrator to learn more.
Password Protection
For maximum security, we ask you to choose a password to access your data on our site. In many instances, this password will also access the quotes we find for you on the web. Some providers might allocate you a different password, which we will send you information about. Your password is unique and helps us to protect your personal information. You must keep this password safe and must not disclose it to anyone.
Forgotten your password?
Don't panic. We have a few options for you if you forget your password or you want to change it for any reason. Simply email us at Communications@confused.com and we will guide you through the security procedure.
Be aware
Please note that communications over the Internet are not secure unless they have been encrypted, so think twice before putting sensitive information in an email/webmail. Your communications may route through a number of countries before being delivered - this is the nature of the World Wide Web/Internet. We cannot accept responsibility for any unauthorised access or loss of personal information that is beyond our control.
